At the farm, we follow a system of agriculture and livestock farming that is humane to animals and friendly to the environment. Key practices include the following:

Livestock are never fed commercial feeds. Instead, they are raised on a diet of legumes, root crops, vegetables, fruits, corn, and grass.

Our all-natural animal feeds do not contain pesticides, antibiotic residues, growth-enhancing hormones, steroids, or any genetic modification.

Our animals are raised in spacious shelters, and allowed to graze in wide, open spaces everyday. The location of the farm in Laguna is ideal, because it is an environment that is free from air, water, and noise pollution.

The absence of small, crowded cages also means that our animals are at a lower risk of sickness, disease, infection, and transmission. Healthy animals mean there is little to no need for antibiotics or other medications.

Pigs raised in commercial farms take around 4 to 5 months to reach their desired market size. At Gabrielle’s Farm, it takes 6 months or longer, before they can be slaughtered. Commercial chickens take less than a month before they are ready for the market, which is only a fraction of the 2 months it takes us to raise ours. Our livestock take longer to raise precisely because these are not injected with any growth-enhancing hormones or steroids.

Yes! These products are made at our commissary, and use only organic meat and poultry, organic vegetables, and all-natural spices and seasonings. These do not contain MSG, extenders, artificial flavorings, or preservatives. These are sold vacuum-packed and frozen, and typically have a shelf life of 3-6 months.

Pesticides, and metals such as lead and mercury, are often found in animal products that come from farms that employ non-organic and non-sustainable agricultural practices. Continued exposure to these contaminants bring about chronic effects to the human consumer, and may include birth defects, production of benign or malignant tumors, genetic changes, blood disorders, nerve disorders, endocrine disruption, and reproduction effects. On the other hand, consumption of organic meat and poultry is a great way to reduce your exposure to contaminants. Clean and all-natural meat has also been found to contain higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, and lower concentration of saturated fats.

While it is ultimately a matter of personal preference, some people believe that organic meat and poultry have a better taste, texture, and flavor. The difference lies in the animal’s diet. In our case, the cleaner, more natural feeds given to our livestock gives our products a deeper, richer flavor, without the aftertaste caused by pesticides and metals that may be present in commercial feeds.

Much of the higher cost of organic meat and poultry can be explained by the nature and scale of production. In a farm such as ours, the choice of all-natural feeds and the size and number of shelters built, among other things, entail an increased cost. However, the number of animals must still be kept at a manageable level, to ensure that these are housed comfortably. Add to this the fact that the growth of livestock isn’t rushed with artificial hormones and steroids, thereby lowering product output, a lower supply versus a higher demand. That being said, it is also important to recognize that conventionally raised livestock does have a hidden cost, that of environmental damage and long-term health risks.

Our fish and seafood are sourced from various suppliers. As much as possible, we opt for those that are wild-caught and/or sustainable. Our grocery items are sourced from different suppliers, as well.
